Over 60s Talent Competition

Stiff competition at West Cork Heat of Over 60s Talent Competition

Con Whelton from Courtmacsherry has won the West Cork Heat of the popular Over 60s Talent Competition! Con beat off stiff competition to win at the Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery recently.

Con performed a song made famous by Liam Clancy “I know this place” and will now go forward into the semi-final on the 27th April in City Hall.

The Over 60’s Talent competition is organised by Paddy O’Brien and it is a fantastic outlet for senior citizens to come together for a great social evening and last night in Rosscarbery was no different. After the winner was announced everyone danced the night away to Ger Deasy. Last year’s winner Sheila O ’Regan from Skibbereen was also in attendance to lend her support to the event.

Helen Wycherley of the Celtic Ross Hotel, who hosted the West Cork event, said “we were blown away by the standard of the performers in this year’s event. I was happy that I didn’t have to choose the winner! We all wish Con the best of luck in the semi-final next month”.
