Why Smugglers Cove Is a Must-Visit in Rosscarbery?

24/07/2025 | Holidays

West Cork is full of surprises, but few are as charming, fun, and unexpected as Smugglers Cove in Rosscarbery. Whether you’re a family looking for a day out, a couple exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, or a group of friends on a road trip, Smugglers Cove offers a mix of outdoor adventure and quirky charm that’s hard to beat.

Just minutes from the town centre and even closer to the Celtic Ross Hotel this hidden gem is more than just a tourist spot. It’s an experience. In this guide, we’ll take you through everything you need to know to plan your visit.

What Is Smugglers Cove?

Smugglers Cove isn’t your usual family farm or amusement park. It's got a rustic, handmade feel thinks timber mazes, sea views, pirate themes, and plenty of space to run around. Perched on a hillside just minutes from the town centre, it offers stunning views over Rosscarbery Bay while still being packed with activities to keep everyone entertained.

It’s a perfect stop if you’re travelling with kids or just looking for something a little bit different along the Wild Atlantic Way.

What You’ll Find at Smugglers Cove?

We weren’t sure what to expect when we arrived, but we left with big smiles and a camera roll full of great memories. Here are a few highlights: -

  1)   The Timber Maze

This was way more fun than expected. Big enough to feel like a real challenge, but not so large that you get lost forever. It’s ideal for kids (and grown-ups who think they’re good at direction).

    2)  Tubing Park

This is the only tubing slide in West Cork, and it’s a blast. You hop into a big rubber ring and fly down specially built slopes no snow required. It's fast, fun, and very addictive.

      3)   Pirate-Themed Crazy Golf

The 18-hole course is full of clever little surprises; all set against the backdrop of Rosscarbery’s coastline. Even if you’re terrible at golf, it’s worth doing just for the laughs and views.

      4)   Smugglers Walk

Need a breather after all that fun? The Smugglers Walk trail loops around the hillside and offers stunning views out to sea. Bring your phone this is the photo stop.
