Guide to West Cork’s Festive Markets This Christmas

Guide to West Cork’s Festive Markets This Christmas

27/10/2026 | Holidays | Christmas & New Year

There’s something special about a Christmas market in a small West Cork town. Think fairy lights strung across a square, the smell of mulled wine, local makers selling handmade gifts and farmhouse cheeses, and a warm welcome at every stall. If you’re planning some festive shopping this year, here’s our guide to the best Christmas markets in West Cork, all within easy reach of the Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery.

Best Christmas Markets in West Cork

Clonakilty Christmas Market

Just a short drive from Rosscarbery, Clonakilty is one of the most festive towns in West Cork. The Clonakilty Christmas Market is listed for 6 to 23 December 2026 in Emmet Square, open daily from 10am to 6pm with free entry, and brings handcrafted gifts, decorations, artisan food and mulled wine to the town’s Georgian square. While you’re there, the town’s Friday farmers’ market also runs through the festive season with seasonal food and entertainment.

Skibbereen at Christmas

Skibbereen is a great choice for a festive day out. Its farmers’ market runs every Saturday from 9.30am to 2pm at the Fairfield, and it’s a real treat for food lovers. In the run-up to Christmas, the town usually hosts special Christmas markets at the Fairfield on Saturdays, along with a festive Christmas Cabin on the Bridge for photos from late November into the New Year. 8 December is the traditional shopping day, with free parking and festive discounts in town.

Crookhaven Christmas Fair

For a market with real West Cork character, head west to Crookhaven. Last year’s fair ran over a weekend in early December, with local food producers, artists and craftspeople at indoor and outdoor stalls around the harbour, and fire pits, marshmallow toasting, hot chocolate and Christmas music. It’s well worth the scenic drive.

Village Markets Around West Cork

Some of the loveliest Christmas markets in West Cork are smaller village events, held for just one day. Over recent years, these have included a Christmas market in Myross Wood near Leap, a Christmas fair at Deelish Garden Centre near Skibbereen, and a Christmas street market in Schull, as well as an on-street Christmas market in Bantry with Santa’s grotto. Closer to Clonakilty, the Courtmacsherry Hotel hosts a Christmas market on Sunday 29 November 2026 from 12pm. Dates change each year, so check locally before you go.

Christmas in Cork City

If you’d like to add a city trip to your break, Cork is around an hour’s drive away. Christmas in Cork runs from 15 November to 31 December 2026, starting with the Christmas Parade on Sunday 15 November, with a Christmas market in Bishop Lucey Park and a Ferris wheel and carousel on Grand Parade from 27 November. New this year, Nollaig – A Journey to Believe is an immersive Santa experience at Elizabeth Fort on selected nights between 27 November and 22 December.
